Every year, I choose a word of the year—a guiding theme that helps me stay aligned and focused as I navigate both business and life. This year, my word is RESET. It’s more than just a trendy exercise; it’s a powerful way to recalibrate and create space for what truly matters.
Maybe you can relate—feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply needing a fresh start? If so, resetting might be the shift you need.
What Does It Mean to Reset?
Contrary to what it may sound like, resetting doesn’t mean throwing everything away and starting from scratch. Instead, think of it as a recalibration—taking what works, letting go of what doesn’t, and making room for something better.
Looking back at 2024, I gained immense clarity about my business. I refined my brand, revamped my offers, redesigned my website, and restructured my lead magnets to simplify everything. But stepping into 2025, I realized I don’t need to do more—I need to reset and approach everything with fresh energy and focus.
The Five Areas of My Reset
Resetting isn’t just about business; it extends into all areas of life. Here’s how I’m breaking it down:
1. Mindset Reset: Letting Go of “Always On”
I’m releasing the pressure to be constantly visible online. Showing up doesn’t mean posting on social media 24/7. Instead, I want to focus on being intentional—working smarter, not harder, and prioritizing what truly matters.
2. Strategic Reset: Prioritizing Storytelling & Human Connection
Marketing isn’t just about visibility—it’s about resonance. In 2025, I’m doubling down on storytelling and creating content that feels human, relatable, and aligned. It’s not about filling space but about making an impact on the right platforms where my ideal clients are actually engaging.
3. Operational Reset: Simplifying Systems Behind the Scenes
Even when we think we’ve streamlined our processes, there’s always room for improvement. This year, I’m going deeper into:
- Automating repetitive tasks
- Enhancing templates for social media and email
- Making service delivery more efficient to reduce burnout
This means more ease, better client experiences, and a business that runs more smoothly.
4. Creative Reset: Making Marketing Fun Again
Marketing should feel exciting, not like a chore. In 2025, I’m experimenting with:
- More video content
- Deep-dive storytelling
- Exploring the meaning of “Simplify Your Marketing” in new ways
I want to create content that not only educates but also inspires and connects on a deeper level.
5. Relationship Reset: Building Deeper Connections
Beyond business, this year is a personal transition for me—I’m entering a new phase as an empty nester. This shift has given me permission to reset how I spend my time and energy.
- I’m prioritizing travel, reading, and slowing down.
- I’m redefining work-life integration—not balance, but true integration.
- I’m embracing this chapter with excitement and curiosity.
If you’re an empty nester, let’s connect! The online business space is full of mom-centered content, but I’m looking to create conversations around entrepreneurship beyond the parenting years.
How You Can Reset Your Business & Life
If the idea of a reset is resonating with you, here are three simple steps to help you start:
1. Reflect
Take time to ask yourself:
- What’s working in my business and life?
- What isn’t serving me anymore?
- Where do I need to make space for something new?
2. Create a Vision
Once you know what needs to change, envision what you want to create instead. You can:
- Journal about your ideal year
- Create a vision board
- Pray or meditate on your direction
3. Start Small
Don’t feel like you need to overhaul everything overnight. Instead, pick one area—your mindset, marketing, systems, or personal life—and start your reset there.
