If you’ve ever looked at your calendar, sighed, and thought, “There’s no way I’m getting to my marketing this week,” you’re not alone. Especially if you’re a CPA, CFO, or running a busy accounting firm, marketing tends to land at the bottom of the priority list—right under “clean out my inbox” and “finally update my systems.”

I hear this all the time.

You’re juggling tax deadlines, client meetings, team check-ins, family obligations… and then summer rolls around and the kids are home too. Suddenly, posting on LinkedIn or writing a newsletter feels like a luxury you don’t have time for.

But here’s what I want you to know: marketing doesn’t have to be all or nothing. And it definitely doesn’t have to feel like a second job.

Why Marketing Feels So Heavy (and What to Do Instead)

The biggest thing I notice with financial professionals? You’re not lazy—you’re overwhelmed. There’s no strategy in place, so every time you sit down to “do marketing,” it feels like starting from scratch.

You open up LinkedIn and wonder:

  • Am I even posting the right things?
  • Do I need to be on Instagram too?
  • Should I be doing video?

And next thing you know, you’re in a scroll spiral and have nothing scheduled for the week.

Sound familiar?

A strong marketing strategy for accountants (or any busy professional) isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing the right things in a way that fits your work rhythm. That’s what keeps things consistent even when life’s chaotic.

You Don’t Need to Be Everywhere

Let’s clear something up: you don’t need to be on every platform.

If you’re a B2B financial expert, LinkedIn might make the most sense. Maybe you pair that with Instagram or Facebook depending on where your clients spend time. Two solid platforms are enough.

The goal is to show up where it counts—not to wear yourself out trying to be everywhere. Focus on the places that:

  • Feel natural for you to use
  • Actually reach your audience

If You Hate Video, Skip It

Yes, video is powerful. But no, you don’t have to do it.

I worked with a client who couldn’t stand being on camera, but she could write for days. So we built her marketing strategy around that. One long-form post a month turned into:

  • Newsletters
  • Feed posts
  • LinkedIn articles
  • Even blog content like this

So if you love writing, lean into it. If you’re great at voice notes, we can turn that into content too. Marketing should work for you—not the other way around.

6 Ways to Make Space for Marketing Without Adding More to Your Plate

Here’s what I share with my clients all the time—especially during busier seasons like summer:

  1. Batch Your Content

Pick one day a month to write or plan everything. When you’re already in work mode, you’ll move faster and with less friction.

  1. Start a Running List

Keep content ideas in a Google Doc or notes app. That way, when it’s time to post, you’re not starting from a blank screen.

  1. Use Templates That Sound Like You

If you’re using Canva, tweak the templates to match your brand—your colors, your tone, your personality. You’re not a cookie-cutter business, so your content shouldn’t be either.

  1. Get Support Where It Counts

Don’t be afraid to outsource engagement or content scheduling. You don’t need to do it all alone. Delegating is smart—not lazy.

  1. Adjust Your Content Around Your Life

Got kids home for the summer? Lighten your marketing load. Repurpose older posts. Use more stories or quick updates instead of full feed posts. It’s okay to dial it back.

  1. Use Tools That Help (but Don’t Let Them Lead)

Yes, you can use tools like ChatGPT to brainstorm captions—but always rewrite it to sound like you. Treat it like a creative assistant, not a voice replacement.

Marketing with Less Pressure, More Intention

Marketing as a financial professional isn’t just about visibility—it’s about trust. And the best way to build trust is to show up consistently in a way that feels sustainable, not exhausting.

If you’re tired of winging it, we can help you create a custom strategy that works with your life and supports your goals. No fluff, no pressure—just a plan that makes sense for how you run your business.
